well considering that the current release of compiz-fusion doesnt have any artwork for the cubecaps plugin, i did a few google searches, and modified the compiz logo to make my own
as far as i know there arent any .svgs of the compiz-fusion logo, so the compiz logo will have to do
anyway im not sure if what i did was legal or not, but i made the logo transparent
to use this cubecap properly you must have PNG support enabled and transparent cube enabled

its 1280x1280, if this is too big for you can scale it to whatever size you want (the original .svg was a square, which is why its a square now)

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v610/TheShadowZero/compiz-logo-trans-small.png
transparent parts=the arrow, the area between the cube and the shadow, all surrounding whitespace (NOT the shine)

EDIT: i suppose you dont NEED to have transparent cube enabled, but the whole point of modifying the image was so that it would be transparent. i assume itll just look black in the middle instead of transparent so..

EDIT2: if i broke any rules by modifying the original images tell me and ill take this down right away

EDIT3: realizing i was leaving the beryl community behind, i have some cubecaps that the beryl-project project provided in the packages that i had also made transparent for personal use. i also modified a logo.

cubecaps1:http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v610/TheShadowZero/cubecaps-beryl.png
transparent parts=the whitespace in between the central jewel and the outer border
cubecaps2:http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v610/TheShadowZero/cubecaps-beryl2.png
transparent parts=whitespace above the trees and the jewel (basically, the sky is transparent)
cubecaps3:http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v610/TheShadowZero/cubecaps-beryl3.png
transparent parts=the whitespace in-between the facets of the jewel
logo:http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v610/TheShadowZero/Beryl_logo2.png
transparent parts=the whitespace in-between the facets of the jewel (also, all surrounding whitespace, but the image doesnt actually extend that far)

Thanks for sharing that TheShadowZero. I don't know if you are breaking any laws either, but hopefully not! :p

There should be more artwork soon, give 'em time.

heh. You could try editing the first post, click "go advanced" and then edit the thread title to something a bit more precise, eg:
"Download Compiz & Beryl cube-cap images here"
or
"New unofficial images for cube caps"
or some-such thing. You probably have more imagination that I. Something that catches the eye and tells people what the thread is actually about.
Might not make any difference but worth a try.
Best of luck,
d:¬)-'

ps I downloaded them.

it could be good images as cube caps defaults, but I must say they are too big (this lessen their chance to be made defaults) and aside from defaults I think people like to put their own images instead of the compiz/etc logo :P

they are easy to scale though, which is why i kept them big because downscaling is easier than upscaling
also, most people have 1280x1024 dont they?
and the beryl ones are the sizes that came with beryl so
hmm okay ill change the thread title
i didnt realize i could do that

I meant big in bytes (png didn't help), and I think that for "simple" shapes like that svg would be way smaller while giving the best quality whatever the resolution ^^

I like the default images in Trevino's unofficial plug-ins for the cube cap plug-in:

Yes, thank you, I thought the same thing...all though it does sort of look like a VCR tape...lol.

thats not exactly how it works
if you set an svg as your cubecap it will scale it and the quality is noticably degraded
also, i tried googling for an svg of the new cf logo but i couldnt find one
in fact i couldnt even find a standalone jpg or png

could someone direct me to them?
and i dont use ubuntu so getting them from that repository wont be possible

then the compiz usage of svg would suck a lot, because the principle of svg is to give a image of quality whatever the resolution.

all im saying is that that is what happened to me when i tried to use an svg as a cubecap
you can try it yourself, maybe ive messed up a setting

just tested it : by default cube caps aren't scaled with me, but if I check the option my vectors don't look especially bad except for one which is quite small by default and which indeed get blurred a little when stretched :P
It's a shame because if I open it with inkscape there is no problem so it comes from the way compiz load its svg :(
