Hi guys, i have a feature request:

I was doing lots of stuff yesterday and i was thinking it would be very productive if there was a way to quickly switch to the top or bottom cube face and quickly jab away and write a few quick notes for things i needed to do. Tomboy is great but it's not as easy and seemless as that.

Please consider it, i can even make some mockup-images if you want, I feel it would be a great usability enhancement!

You could achieve something similar with the widget-plugin (http://gitweb.opencompositing.org/?p=users/maniac/widget) and Screenlets (http://forum.compiz-fusion.org/showthread.php?t=323).

Alls you have to do is paste name=NotesScreenlet.py in the "Widget Windows"-field at Widget Layer → Behaviour.

Then all your notes will show up only when hitting [F9].

Actually, name=Screenlet is enough - that way, it will also match other Screenlets as well. Don't forget to load the regex plugin for that. ;)

If you what them to do that with a fancy effect, add a match "widget=1 & override_redirect=0" with your favourite effect to the animation plugin (at the top of the list) :)

Personally I like it better this way because some Screenlets are pretty useless when you can only access them through the widget layer (like NowPlaying and Windowlist).
I like having those all the time on the desktop.

Thats the beauty of the new version - it's all about choice. :)

Cool. Thanks, I didn't know that.

Would you please elaborate a little more what exactly it is you don't get working?

specifically, i don't know how to do the steps listed in your first post in this thread. I have screenlets and the widget plugin but i just don't understand this:

"Alls you have to do is paste name=NotesScreenlet.py in the "Widget Windows"-field at Widget Layer → Behaviour"

Where is the "widget windows"field?

Thanks for the help.

actually i would find it much better, if you could turn a window to the back and put notes for that specific windows/program. so, when you have some apps open, you still know what you want to do with it. or does this exist already? i think i seen this on mac osx already.

I imagine that with the group plugin you would be able to group and tab between a notes screenlet quite easily. In my opinion, this was probably one of the most useless features of Looking Glass, but it can be done with Compiz

hi SmSpillaz!

to be honest, i find this a very usefull feature!
i often habe many apps open... i get a phone call or go out for lunch.
when i come back im often puzzled what i initially wanted to do.
especially when you are discovering a new OS (which is the case here, heh)
you have a lot of ideas what you want to try out, etc...
the tab grouping of compiz would be a start, but it doesnt really correspond to
the actual application.

best,
