View Full Version : Compiz - Radeon Mobility 9000

After have tried everything to get fglrx drivers to work on my ATI Mobility Radeon 9000, xgl and countless crashes. Now I'm running compiz using open source drivers (included in Ubuntu Edgy) and AIGLX. It's amazing!!

Can you post up your xorg.conf? I'd like to see what kind of optimizations you put in, as I have a Mobility Radeon 9000 as well.

question:

are you using the "LIBGL_ALWAYS_INDIRECT=1" enviroment variable ?

I have a Radeon 9000 pro and I need to include that for compiz to work

Sorry people, I can't check those things right now. I took my laptop for repair today, so I don't have it with me. :( .

If it helps, the only thing I did was to install AIGLX with the instructions in ubuntu help (https://help.ubuntu.com/community/CompositeManager/AIGLXOnEdgy). After that I got compiz from the repos following the guide in the wiki (http://www.go-compiz.org/index.php?title=Ubuntu_Installation_Guide). I didn't use extra tweaks nor optimizations.

I would post my xorg.conf and check for the variable as soon as I get my laptop back.

OK, after long fighting my system more or less I have it figured out.

Since I am putting up a post at this forum there is obviously still a problem, or even more then one.. :o

now, when I boot the laptop with the ATI Mobility Radeon FireGL 9000 (rv250)
it boots with a screen resolution of 1280 * 800.. kind of interesting since this is not something I have in my xorg.conf.
I have to say my xorg.conf is a bit messy however, here it is.

Anyone who see's something interesting that I should change?

When I want to run compiz (fusion) I have to change my desktop setting to 1024*800, otherwise compiz doesn't like it. (aka -doesn't start).

hi every one, im totaly new whit this amazin 3D desktop i have a dell inspiron 600m whit a Mobility Radeon 9000 64MB and i already make it compiz-fusion its running but its doing it very slow, does any one can help me or tell me how to run this amazing 3D desktop faster
