Oh, btw, do you have any benefits now that you're eighteen in your country?
Over here in Germany turning 18 is a big deal because then you're allowed to drive (a car) and to drink "real" alcohol ("real" being everything besides beer or wine, because you're allowed to drink that at the age of 16 here).
Of course not at the same time :D

Happy Birthday delfick, and all other mentioned (ok, too lazy to cut and paste)!

I'm 40 in September, and strangely relieved to find that not everyone else is around 20.

By the way you can see people's b'days, if they have defined them, on the events calendar function of the forum.

There's a member on the OpenSuse ML, who has a great sig along the lines of:

'I always wished my computer was as easy to understand as a phone, now my dream has come true - i no-longer understand my phone."

Perhaps it is worth pointing out that older folks are likely to be far more excited about computers than the kids - because for us they are a wonder, a marvel and a science fiction dream come true - whereas for you they are an everyday thing you grew up with.

@d_garbage: I know what you mean, I somehow followed the evolution of modern PCs since I was a child and was highly amazed by playing RockMan on my old Commodore Plus4 back then (we even had 16 colors already :D). Kids today rather start off with QuadCore cpu, 4 gigs RAM and WoW ... :)

Hello, delfick and everybody!

22 the answer here and one more congratulation. I've once prepared a "gift" for you, delfick, when you needed your avatar of some other size somewhere - maybe you'll find it useful :-)
http://kfe.fjfi.cvut.cz/~potocek/work/storage/delfick.svg
It needs a little tweaking when converting to a bitmap of some size, but hopefully only a few pixels :-)

Same here. :o I'm turning 20 on October 5th. And I also live in BC!

I always found the legal age limits here kind of funny: you can drive at 16, vote at 18, and drink/smoke at 19. Of course, there are restrictions on driving for the first year or so (need a supervisor aged 25+ at all times; a passenger limit of 2, including the supervisor; blood alcohol must be 0; no driving after midnight).

Boringly enough, I am from Vancouver, rather than from some lesser-known (and therefore more interesting) city. :/

:o:o:o:o 41 :o:o:o:o

Very well said  The best I had growing up was the show Star Trek - Tri-corders and the ship board monitors (pc's today) communicators (Cell Phones) and the greatest of all the big viewing screen (awesome the first time I seen this) on the bridge.

I remember having a very small monitor and a cassette recorder (tape drive) at school that took 20 minutes to load a small game which left no time to play :o
