Currently I use and follow the Suse packages sub-forum and it's already at 7 pages which of course is nothing compared to the 38 pages for the Ubuntu one and this just seems wrong as the posts tend to be all over the place.
Might some consideration be given having distro specific forums with sub-forums such as:
Installation
Packages
Compiling from source
Configuration
Problems post installation
Distro general discussions

I can't say I really like that idea.
1. There are very few distribution-specific problems. So most of the time in those subforums there will be threads about general questions that could be answered by anybody - and what's even more important: a lot of information will be "lost" for other users.
That's already the case with the international subforums. Mostly in the spanish one where there seems to be a topic for everything I do a search in the forum.
2. About the Ubuntu-Thread: that's a thread about a repository by a member. Nothing official. So there are a lot of requests and questions about packaging-specific topics. As soon as we have official repositories, there won't be so much to discuss.
3. I had a third reason in mind when starting the posting... unfortunately, it got lost in the process. I'll come back if it recurs to me. :D

I wouldn't disagree but these kind of threads are just a pain to follow and track, how about something more Distro/version specific:
New Packages Available Announcement
Version x.x installation problems
Vesion x.x issues
Compiling from source

I have to agree with Forlong. The amount of wasted time and effort is not desirable.
Imagine us having to answer the same question in multiple areas of the forum.
Once we have a new BETTER organized forum, i am hoping the search feature will
be more efficient. Distro specific info will be forthcoming when we have our wiki
ready. As we did in Beryl.

I 'd say there's nothing against multiple threads as long as there's a reasonable amount of them.
But I wouldn't start 'em until there are official packages.
Accept for the compiling-related ones, of course. :)
