pretty long title but it says it all.
is there any way to get a unsupported rpm for the less 'stable' plugins like 3d etc?

I'm having a look at 3d at the moment. What other plugin are available? I'd need the name and git address.

3D - Gives windows depth and enables them to lift away from the desktop
[url:ed9bd]http://gitweb.opencompositing.org/?p=fusion/plugins/3d;a=summary[/url:ed9bd]

Atlantis - Fish, sharks, dolphins and wales swimming around inside the cube!
[url:ed9bd]http://gitweb.opencompositing.org/?p=fusion/plugins/atlantis;a=summary[/url:ed9bd]

Gears - Like atlantis but with rotating cogs inside the cube (think glx gears)
[url:ed9bd]http://gitweb.opencompositing.org/?p=fusion/plugins/gears;a=summary[/url:ed9bd]

Screensaver - Activates the cube as a screensaver, rotating when the desktop is idle
[url:ed9bd]http://gitweb.opencompositing.org/?p=users/pafy/screensaver;a=summary[/url:ed9bd]

Wallpaper - Enables different wallpapers on each cube face
[url:ed9bd]http://gitweb.opencompositing.org/?p=fusion/plugins/wallpaper;a=summary[/url:ed9bd]

not sure if the git address is what I have given if not tell me how I might find the git address and I'll do it.
its basically what is provided by the ubuntu repo for example [url:ed9bd]http://shame.tuxfamily.org/repo/?p=118[/url:ed9bd]
Thanks

Lee

I'll have a go at them later on. I'll let you know if I can't locate them but what you've got me seems sufficient.

Thanks.

thanks! much appreciated.
Is there any howto or guide that explains how to do it?

I don't mind having a play if it's not too complicated.

I know but the problem is that they are dispersed and do not have a configure /install. I will need to either create a new package or add them to the unsupported plugins.

maybe you could ask trevino if he's got the sources together since he released a compiz fusion plugins unofficial for ubuntu which included those we are discussing here. :D

Yoshi,

I'm currently trying to get make fusion part of pclos for automatic selection and startup. I just noticed you use ATI and xgl and have it working.

What command do you use to start compiz-fusion? Did you need to take extra steps to get it going?

Gettinther,
Yes on a dell laptop which has a radeon card i think. (can't remember exactly and I dont have that one with me.)
I'll have a look when I get home tonight and take a look back through my notes (yes I kept notes of my pclinusos install issues)

Got my ati card to work with the following in xorg.conf

Option "XAANoOffscreenPixmaps" "true"
Option "DRI" "true"

Option "GARTSize" "64"

and changed default depth to 16

Thanks for that Yoshi, I'll take note of it. Would you be interested in doing a test for me (promise, it won't break your system :D ).

On the plugins subject, I managed to compile gears / atlantis / wallpapers. 3D bails out on an invalid argument (could be work in progress) and screensaver gets an incompatible c++ (noted by the dev but I already have the latest bcop (that was his solution)). So I'm going to release the 3 first and then look at how the other 2 develop.

Not trying to take over the thread, but have you thought of adding fusion-icon and the bouge move plugin to the repositories?

Fusion icon is like beryl-manager but for Compiz. Bouge is the beryl move plugin ported to Compiz, which I need on my computer because the new move plugin does not work right on my computer.

Yeah, I'm looking at fusion icon but I haven't heard of this bouge move plugin. Can you point me to the git location?

Fusion-icon is awesome, and I highly recommend it. But the bouge plugin is actually not in git: it's on the compiz forum.

Someone posted it here:

sure, 'll do a test. don't worry about borking, I've installed and re-installed so many times now, It doesn't take long to get it all back. :)

I have currently installed mintlinux (running compiz fusion well with all extra plugins) on my ati laptop but have pclinuxos running on another laptop with an intel graphics card (915gm/gms/910gml)

I also have a pc with an ATI radeon card in it I can test on.

The unstable plugin has been released. So far it contains Fusion systray icon / gears / atlantis / bouge (bouge doesn't give any details in the window (no xml file) and doesn't seem to work without wobbly window enabled so please let me know if it works as it should)

3d, screensaver won't compile and wallpaper crashes compiz when enabled so I removed it for the moment.

bouge works for me when i disable the move plugin... no transparency though... :D

shame

As I understand it, bouge is actually the old beryl move plugin. It was recommended as an alternative to the one in compiz fusion because it was a bit jumpy but this seems to have been fixed now.

The fusion systray icon doesn't work on my PC - no borders on windows :(

The first time you launch compiz-icon systray, it defaults to kwin decorator. right click on the icon in the bottom left (blue box with white arrow) and change the window decorator to emerald.

Don't worry, it might not work with your card. (It works with mine but I don't even use it :D ).

Anyway, release 7 is out (not much happening)

Release 8 will be out soon and here is a little sneak peek :D
