You can find here the updated compiz-extra tarball which congregate Mike Dransfield beryl backport plugins : 3d, animation, bench, border, bs, crashhandler, dock, group, inputzoom, miniwin, mousegestures, neg, opacify, put, showdesktop, snow, state, trailfocus, wallpaper, widget.

You can enable or disable with configure options, by default all plugins are enabled except dock and miniwin plugins because either they doesn't build or work.

compiz-extra-latest.tar.bz2 (0.3.6.0) (http://gandalfn.club.fr/ubuntu/compiz-extra/compiz-extra-latest.tar.bz2)

If you want use compiz-extra with latest compiz git version, use git tarball, warning this version of compiz-extra work only with compiz git version consider it as very unstable !

As mentioned in the other thread, maybe this could be labeled as

compiz-extra-0.3.2.0.tar.bz2

Then the last digit can be incremented on each release. There are likely to be a few as I am working on getting all the plugins upto 0.3.2 standard.

can we put them somewhere all together so i can upload a new gentoo ebuild for gandalfn package??
It will be useful for some people until they are put in an overlay or in normal portage repos

I think that it can be added to the download page of the go-compiz wiki.

I have fixed state, and moppsy sent me copacity so can you test them and add them if they work properly.

hi

I updated compiz-extra tarball, the version is named now compiz-extra + compiz version + one digit for compiz extra release, i know the 0.3.3 isn't good but i kept it for packages which they are already released.

The new package include now copacity and bench plugin. It's nice to announce the first release of compiz-extra (0.3.3.1 ?) when compiz 0.3.3 will be released. Of what think of it you ?

i think that compiz-extra needs to be updated more ofter that compiz so having a 0.3.3.1 for compiz-0.3.3 might not be the best thing to do...
I mean we might as well keep releasing updates and when a new compiz version comes we continue from there
Since many plugins are still under heavy development - debugging we must not block the users to have access to them. I mean that many of these improvements actually helping everyday work so they are needed(i know i need them)

what say you???

yes ! yes! I agree,

sorry it's my bad english, i wouldn't say to have one version of compiz-extra for one compiz release or wait compiz 0.3.3 to release it, but made an official announce on freedesktop when compiz 0.3.3 is release :P.

I have made quite a few updates and fixes recently. Most of the normal plugins are working now.

I would recommend including the following plugins (they all work fine here but you should test them too and report any problems).

3d, animation, border, benchmark, bs, copacity, crashhandler, group (? not sure on this one), neg, put, showdesktop, state, trailfocus, wallpaper.

ok, is updated in 0.3.3.1 tarball ;) Otherwise, can you add date or a small release at your plugin zip, so that i see change for compiz-extra ?

thanks

No problem, I will add a note and let you know if anything changes soon. I do not have any more changes planned and most of the plugins seem to work fine.

Once we have a git server we can maintain all of the plugins inside the compiz-extra directory which will make things a lot easier for everyone.

I just tried to compile this against a current git checkout, first of all it kept saying that version 0.3.4 of compiz is required and I only have version 0.3.3 installed. I deleted the >= 0.3.4 from the configure script and it worked.

Next I got this problem when running autogen.sh

*** [Gentoo] sanity check failed! ***
*** libtool.m4 and ltmain.sh have a version mismatch! ***
*** (libtool.m4 = 1.5.22, ltmain.sh = "1.5.22 Debian 1.5.22-2") ***

Please run:

libtoolize --copy --force

if appropriate, please contact the maintainer of this
package (or your distribution) for help.

I think that all of the 0.3.4 plugins are also compatable with 0.3.2, incompatabilities are introduced with every major revision.

libtool problem it's fixed in 0.3.4.1, in addition i modified compiz dependencies to 0.3.2.

I also added a 0.3.5.1 tarball which compile with latest compiz git version

Would it be possible to have a symlink for each of these packages?

Something like compiz-extra-latest.tar.bz2 and compiz-extra-git.tar.bz2

I had to change the links on my page and on the wiki - they were still saying 0.3.4.0

Also now might be a good time for a new release, you can include snow in time for christmas :)

I know that gandalfn has been busy working on the official Fiesty packages, I do not mind hosting this until we have something official.

There are quite a few improvements that need to go in.

Sorry for this late update.

compiz-extra-latest (0.3.6.0) work with compiz release 0.3.6. this warning it's only for compiz-extra-git, but for now it's same ones. Perhaps I should remove compiz-extra-git link ?
