Hey guys. Both Beryl and compiz fusion seem to run a tad bit slow. Especially in Minimize effects. They just chug along, skip frames.. slow FPS.. etc. The cube seems to rotate acceptable, but animation effects simply do not run very well. Im running Arch Linux. My system is a Pentium 4, 2.4ghz 1.25gigs of ram, Nvidia Geforce 6200 256meg.

Im not sure what could cause things to run slowly with compiz-fusion, but has anyone else had this problem? perhaps its a problem in my xorg config?

Yeah, I have the same problem here. I personally haven't found a way to get that smoothness I had with beryl animations. It might be driver related, I don't know (I also have an nvidia). It's very frustrating, that's for sure.

Thanks, but I'd already tried those settings before and it doesn't change anything. I guess I'll just have to wait until things get better.

Well it could be just my mind playing tricks on me.. but it did seem to do a little bit of improvement. But minimize / maximize effects still are extremly chuggy to the point its unbareable.. everything else seems to run moderatly well.. except for animation effectss.....

uncheck "sync to VBlank" in the "display settings" tab of "general options" in csm :D

You rock, that improved my animations a ton.
