Hello,
I am in the process of building an in-car computer running Ubuntu Feisty/Gnome on a core2-duo system w/ Intel G965 integrated video for a 7" 800x480 touchscreen monitor (used for GPS, engine data logging, wideband O2 sensor logging, music, etc...in a Subaru Impreza STi). I would like to hook up buttons soldered to a game controller, or other input device, and set them up to control the desktop cube as I planned to place my various applications I would be running on different sides of the desktop cube, making an easy and pretty way to switch between applications.
How can I set up input events from a game controller or other device to control cube rotation? Also, is it possible to save window positions on the cube so every time the computer boots, the various windows (GPS, data logger, music program, etc.) will be where I set them last? I am not too familiar with input configuration for Gnome, or linux for that matter...could I set up a keypress alias for a button press from the controller? Or is it possible to directly enter in the input code from the controller to the compiz configuration tool? Thanks,
-Rich
