Hey,
I just found these;
http://www.zugaina.org/gentoo/sabayon/x11-misc.html.en
Some bash scripts to help autoconfigure Beryl for Sabyon Linux. They are very readable and could be adapted to compiz
What do you think?

Yes, I think they are alright. The scripts are more advanced, check for more things before attempting to launch Beryl. Eg: Wether if XGL is running and direct rendering is working, etc. Still, I think that a careful user wouldn't need this, especially if he is using AIGLX.
I'm going to post direct links:
Beryl Wrapper (http://www.zugaina.org/gentoo/sabayon/portage/x11-misc/beryl-wrapper/files/beryl-wrapper) - This helps launch Beryl
AIGLX Setup Helper (http://www.zugaina.org/gentoo/sabayon/portage/x11-misc/desktop-acceleration-helpers/files/aiglx-setup) - This enables/disables AIGLX
XGL Setup Helper (http://www.zugaina.org/gentoo/sabayon/portage/x11-misc/desktop-acceleration-helpers/files/xgl-setup) - This enables/disables XGL
