First off, great job everyone! I knew we had talent lurking around this site. Here are my thoughts:

zootreeves - Red Cube - I've always liked this one. You may want to try a more abstract, fanciful look

zootreeves - Layered C - Clever design but white on white washes out. Perhaps try different color or background and adding more layers or thinner layers to accentuate the layered look.

zootreeves - Variation on cube - Looks like it's exploding. I find this a bit disturbing.

lagorgy - First Design - I really like the text you use. I would like to see us use the text portion as an additional logo even if we choose another design.

twigsby - Lozenge - This still makes me smile and is my favorite. Simple but eye-catching. Shadow emphasizes 3D. I can see this as a flash animation slowing rotating. You might want to try to accentuate the 3D look.

KRZYzaK - Three Arrows - I think it's OK as is, but I think this has great potential and I'd love to see some variations. I like to see it on the page with a single cube and text. I think we would want to keep all the color variations but we'd need to choose one as the "primary" logo. This is another one I can see in an animation, not moving, but slowly fading into the different color combos, or on a rotator so you see a different one each time you visit the page. Maybe try giving the arrows some shading and remove the fuzzy effect. I can picture something like neon tubes. This is one I'd like to experiment with.

watkin5 - Enlightenment Variation - Attractive but I think we need our own look.

some1else - Introverted 3d cube - Seems kind of plain on first glance and I had to think about how this was a cube. Now that I see the perspective I think it's very clever. It would be interesting to see the white face in color also. I think that might make it a little easier to see the 3D effect.

KRZYzaK: Three Arrows
love it! - Retains the original recognisability of the cube logo. Can work well on a dark or light background. Also good because it is well suited to seperating the logo from the text, in an icon for example

My only complaint is that maybe the text is not sharp enough. My vote at this stage

some1else: Cube perspective
Similar positives as above (recognisable with and without the text). Im not sure if I am a fan of the green. Perhaps try a script effect like the current logo where the Z in compiz is enlarged to make the logo+text more balanced left-to-right

Second on the list for me

Congratulations to everyone!

zootreeves - Variation on cube
I really like it. I'm feeling the thrill and power of an accerated 3d desktop.

KRZYzaK - Three Arrows
Simply elegant, nice.

Would anyone else like to see how they scale down to a icon?

Thanks for the input guys.

I've taken in some of your feedback, and started a new thread (http://forum.go-compiz.org/viewtopic.php?p=1839) where I'll be
posting the variations I come up with, as well as attempts reflecting your
suggestions.

I still really think the good old red cube was a very good logo. Well done and easily (at least now) associated with compiz...

This one is quite good though ;). The red one is easily associated to compiz too. Make the little swirl a little less "strange" (I don't know how to say, it currently feels kinda "strange") and it would have my vote.

Yes, I like these last ones better, both with the border and without.

I like Zootreeves' first, some1else's first, and who's first entries.
