You may ask: "Why, indeed?! Old Compiz too buggy. Latest from git is much stabler, faster and it has much more features."

Compiz from Jan is very very fast, surely faster than latest Compiz. Also resizing is astonishingly fast.
It' isn't buggy at all. Never crashed for me.
I miss no features from latest Compiz. I added some plugins from newer versions from Compiz, though. I configured it by editiong sources, so there are no problems with gconf.
These are plugins which I use: "decoration wobbly fade minimize cube rotate zoom place scale move resize". Only what I need...

Do you remember Kororaa 0.1? Try it and you'll see how smoth it is.
I think latest Compiz should take some stuff from good old Compiz, especially resize...

indeed, resize is terribly slow.
one of the main issues that made me move back to xfwm4 for now (besides screen edge resistance..)

i thought back then that since graphics where accelerated by opengl, resizing etc would be faster and smoother than just with plain x11, but resizing has always been _a lot_ slower and choppier with beryl and compiz. maybe i misunderstood sth back then and still do.
