when running compiz (using the command [code:90c3e]LIBGL_ALWAYS_INDIRECT=1 compiz --replace --indirect-rendering --sm-disable ccp &[/code:90c3e]) all the effects seem to work, however I lose the window decoration (the title bar with the X and minimize/maximize buttons) so have no way of resizing or dragging windows.
using ubuntu feisty and followed viewtopic.php?f=51&t=758&p=5416&hilit=feisty+fawn#p5416 (http://forums.opencompositing.org/viewtopic.php?f=51&t=758&p=5416&hilit=feisty+fawn#p5416)
Anyone know why?

err I'm having the same problem at the moment :(
I also tried the create icon thing and get this error... not sure if its related..
[code:5c8bf]ian@Jupiter-ubuntu:~/compiz/compiz-icon$ compiz-icon &
[1] 9431
ian@Jupiter-ubuntu:~/compiz/compiz-icon$ /usr/bin/compiz
/usr/bin/ccsm
/usr/bin/gtk-window-decorator
/usr/bin/metacity
/usr/bin/kwin
Traceback (most recent call last):
File "./compiz-icon.py", line 401, in <module>
gwd_backend = gconf.client_get_default()
NameError: name 'gconf' is not defined[/code:5c8bf]
DBFT... that guide you followed...
I did the same thing... but have you done the same
[code:5c8bf]./autogen.sh --prefix=/usr --enable-librsvg --disable-kde && make && sudo make install[/code:5c8bf]
for ~/compiz/emerald and ~/compiz/emerald-themes ?
I hadn't done that, hence why I wasn't getting any decorations... after that type emerald in terminal and you should have decorations.
