Hi, I have problems to watch video & dvd using VLC with GL Desktop enable, I see only a black screen and if I disable the GL Desktop I havent any problems.
I use the X11 Video Output on VLC.
Any ideas?
Thank you

Hi, michelem.
Can you please add what graphics-card/-driver, distribution and compiz-version you use? And did you have any other apps showing black windows before? I use the default gnome-version of vlc with an nvidia-card and I have no problems so far. Do you have the problem with all video-formats (like avi, mpeg, ...)?
(Sorry for the many questions and no solution ...)

Can be an issue of the driver, but I don't really know. I often read posts about that on the old beryl-forums (which, unfortunately, are lost). You could try starting VLC with XLIB_SKIP_ARGB_VISUALS=1 vlc
It helps in some cases.

Also you might want to try starting compiz like this
LIBGL_ALWAYS_INDIRECT=1 compiz....
And also try playing with the /apps/compiz/general/screen0/options/unredirect_fullscreen_windows option (on or off).
Also there is a new version of mesa (6.5.2) which fixes a lot of intel bugs so an upgrade there might help.
