New Compiz Logo / Forum design

I have started some new artwork to go with the new forum design (mainly because I couldn't find any high res images of the old logo). I am not much of a designer, so anyone feel free to contribute.

My personal favourite is this

But obviously it is too complicated to be used a a logo/symbol, which I think is what compiz needs (i.e. like beryl's cyrstal), maybe someone else can give it a shot

i think david has a good point. a logo should be more generic and not focusing on a particular feature of compiz. although compiz is propably best known for the cube, that could change in the future.

Neither seem to render properly in firefox, but they were made in Inkscape so you can get any res png you want

Maybe the logo could express the "composited nature" of compiz - so being somehow layered. I thought of an onion, but its a quite stupid idea. A clean and simple logo could also maybe only be made of one letter - the C ... Maybe I'll try myself on something later (though I like the cube logo, too).

I like the idea of layers. I had a go at making a C, I don't think it looks very good on it's own but if you put it on the box it looks Ok.

I had some more thoughts about a new logo but I wasn't able to visualize them yet. How about a very clean, outlined "post-it"-like sheet of papers with a "c" written on them (only the one below topmost one) ... so that the "layered" aspect becomes visible. The "c" could be only visible 3/4, so be covered by the topmost paper which should be slightly "bended upside" (sorry, I don't know another english word for that) ...

I hope you understand what I mean ... maybe it should be done in blender and rendered with toon-edges to make it look "comic-real".

Only an idea ..

I think the onion idea is cool. It could work, think about it, and it IS different, a lot different. They beryl guys would be surprised! :P
