I don't believe this is possible. I would like to do that also.

Not with both buttons, but you can set 'Initiate' to Button2 to hold down the middle mouse button :D

My downstairs neighbour and I both would LOVE to be able to click with the left AND right buttons and drag the cube. Or at least re-implement the middle clicking on the desktop only to rotate. I miss not having to push a keyboard button at the same time.

I agree, that (click left and right buttons) would be great and should be the default behavior :!:

Multi-button bindings would be nice, indeed. ;)

What's funny to me is that, at least with my X.org settings, clicking Button1 (Left Click) and Button3 (Right Click) simultaneously is interpreted as an emulated Button2 (Middle Click). :P So, as far as any program (eg. Compiz, Firefox) is concerned, it's still Button2. But maybe your configuration differs and there's an actual difference.

Anyway, it looks more like the problem is with not yet having [url=http://forums.opencompositing.org/viewtopic.php?f=44&t=717:8e4ce]only on desktop[/url:8e4ce] bindings, which would mean that Button2 wouldn't be "stolen" from Firefox or other apps.

That's the emulate 3 buttons (or something similar) option in X.org.
