How can i do a manual install?

I have tried trevinos debs and was very frustrated and didnt get anyhtign workign. I have tried somones script and thats not workign soo i want to try manually. How can i do this?

also what commands shoudl i execute to make it clean before i do it, liek thigns i should remove?

Someone on #opencompositing recommended [url=http://pastebin.ca/563305:61235]this guide[/url:61235] to manually installing CompComm in your user directory. You should be able to follow the same guide for a global install, just change the paths. ^_^
