just for anyone that doesnt know, now you can zoom out the cube updating compiz to current git, and there's a cube reflection plugin that's awesome u can get it from here:
git clone git://anongit.opencompositing.org/compc ... cubereflex (git://anongit.opencompositing.org/compcomm/plugins/cubereflex)
great work, thx.

I have made a topic (few month ago) on the Beryl forums about something like this...:
http://forum.beryl-project.org/viewtopic.php?t=4554
I will like to see something similar, but with more usability... Like this:
http://img529.imageshack.us/img529/7565/screenshotqd7ic4.th.jpg[/url:12dcf]
That will make that the cube will not be just a cube that you can move in any direction... The concept change, and seems better to me.

At least on my computer, the effect is currently broken. You can pull a snapshot of the last working revision if you want to try it: http://gitweb.opencompositing.org/?p=co ... c103011c00 (http://gitweb.opencompositing.org/?p=compcomm/plugins/cubereflex;a=snapshot;h=ca7db91fc92844d8586c238c16 a061c103011c00)
extract that somewhere, and inside of the cubereflex directory: make && make install
This will install the plugin to ~/.compiz/ (restart compiz to make it take effect) and it will override the broken /usr/lib/compiz/ version
When you want to go back to the normal version (when it's fixed), just delete ~/.compiz/plugins/libcubereflex.so and ~/.compiz/metadata/cubereflex.xml

I really NOT recommend switching to the git version _only_ to test some new bling-bling effects ... You will likely encounter problems related to the "developmental nature" of the git version. Be warned ;) ...
(And to be opposing but still somehow constructive: In case someone wants to give it a try and test the git version, here is a HOWTO[/url:a0af6] for Feisty users ...)

Well, I believe that it doesn't seem to be such a problem. The last time I installed from git made the program rock solid, and gave me the cube effect as well. ;)

yes, most of the time it is rock solid, but there is the chance of something been screwed up and if we get lots of impatient people using git and it suddenly stops working, they won't wait for a day or two untill it is fixed, instead the forum will be flooded
it's what happened with compiz-quinnstorm, and it'd likely to happen here
