I was thinking about making a 'medium' modification to the main go-compiz page, because its not a small one or a big one. You see, the 'More Information' section currently looks like this:

More Information

* Download Compiz
* Visit the forums
* Recent changes
* Recent commits
* Documentation
* Our Team

I think that it really is unnecessary. The download link is in the list at the top, no-one really wants to see the recent wiki changes unless you're actually working on it. The recent commits I guess are good for developers only and therefore should be moved to the Develop section. The Our Team and Visit the forums sections could be added to the top panel with its respective icons.

Instead of this section I propose we have a Documentation section. This would have a list of useful links, like this:

Documentation

* Installation Instructions
* Compiling from source
* Compiz user guide
* User contributed How To's

Something like that, where the first link would point to the current Instructions page. The compiling from source would link to the compiling page. The Compiz user guide would be added later I guess, because it doesn't exist yet. The last link would point to a page where we'd have a list of all the How To's the Compiz users will write, the first one would be RYX's guide that's on the forum now.

What do you think?

On the first look I'd say your approach is much better than the current situation. You are the wiki-master - so do as you please ... :)

Lol, alright RYX. Anyone else have something to say about this? If not I can proceed to introduce the changes. :wink:

I'm fine with your idea and if we aren't happy with the results we (meaning you... hehe) can always change it again.

If you are going to be working on it, could you look at squeezing in a page somewhere for this, I want to move it to the wiki at some point.

http://www.anykeysoftware.co.uk/compiz/plugins/

I can keep the tarballs there for the meantime until we have some space somewhere (they can be individually linked for the meantime), but the page can be moved and the general look of it could be improved to say the least :)

Opps, missed the plugin showcase page... Ill try to link the plugins directly from there rather than going via 3 clicks.

I also noticed that there is a transparency plugin listed... there isn't a transparency plugin, maybe these things could be in a core features page.

Alright, I'm going to start working on these things asap, just gotta finish some stuff at home. I'll keep you posted. :wink:

Alright, I did some edits to the main wiki page, although it really looks better with the Compiz2 skin. I did the edits with that skin on, originally. I want to ask you when is the new skin going to be set as default? It really looks much, much better than what we've got now. :roll:
