You're topic makes you sound kind of surprised, but I'm not sure why. This is a known issue with the nvidia drivers, and has been thoroughly discussed on various forums, including these forums. Here are some links:

Yeah I know, Some people from from #opencompositing wanted to take a look at my xorg config so they could sujest which tweaks to enable/disable. I did suggest using pastebin but they wanted it in the forum.

The - Again - part of the subject was meant to infer that this was yet another Nvidia black window thread.

Thanks for the links though - I'll check for anything useful in them later. It is my understanding that Nvidia plan to release drivers which will handle this problem - so im not too worried. It is annoying though - I can only open about 7/8 windows before I start getting black windows :(
