Logo Contest

I was just wondering if anyone thinks the open discussion time should be increased to 6 days? That way everyone who has submitted a logo design will have a better chance of gaining feedback and discussions on their work.

The only problem with that is it brings the end of the discussion to Christams Eve. Lots of people are on vacation the next week so we wouldn't be able to have the first vote until after the first of the year. I have no objections to allowing discussion prior to the deadline if the others agree.

I hope you weren't offended by my comment on your design. I really do like it.

Before voting starts, could we agree how the votes should be counted. As far as I see there are 2 basic options.

1. Normal voting, one with the most votes wins.
2. Normal vote but top 2 go to next round where everyone can vote again.

I think option 2 is good because if you really hate the current option but yours lost, you get a second choice. I quite like this but it may take too long.

Also we need to set the end date and what happens in the event of a tie. Just so everything is clear and fair :)

5. All polls will require a majority to win. If there is no majority, the lowest vote getter will be dropped and another poll taken until one design gets a majority. Each poll will last 3 days.
This is my original proposal for voting rules. Since we have so many submissions I'd like to amend this slightly to: If there is no majority, drop the entries with lowest non-zero vote count and any entry with zero votes then take another poll until one design gets a majority.

For example, if A=0, B=2, C=2, D=5, and E=6 then A,B and C would be dropped.

In any case there's a good chance we won't get a majority on the first vote. That means we'll be at Chistmas and many people will be out of town. If we need a 2nd vote should we have the second vote after New Years? If so, do we allow additional discussion and editing?

I think we should have two rounds.

Round 1; we all vote for which logo is suckiest.
Round 2; we all vote for a good'un.

If we can't agree on a winner then we adopt the suckiest from round 1.
It's my only chance to win. :D

The contest is almost over!!! To see the logos please go to the Contest Page.

The rules are the following:

- 12 days to create and submit designs. The deadline for new entries is TODAY at midnight GMT.
- 3 days of open discussion (in the forums) and unlimited tweaking.
- At the end of the discussion and modification period, the designs will be frozen and each member of the community will have an opportunity to vote.
- The winning logo must have a majority of votes to win.
