I have not seriously used Compiz since the Compiz Quinn days but now that Beryl and Compiz are together I would really like to try Compiz again.
My question is: Is there something like a Compiz Manager like the Beryl Manage with which I can make my personal preferences?

PS: I am using KDE. No Gnome installed.

Yes there is. It's called CCSM. It is similar to beryl-settings manager gui.

ccsm may be downloaded from the git repository at git://anongit.opencompositing.org/compc ... tools/ccsm (git://anongit.opencompositing.org/compcomm/compiz-configuration-system/tools/ccsm).

You'll also need to install the Python bindings provided by the css-python module, available at git://anongit.opencompositing.org/compc ... ccs-python (git://anongit.opencompositing.org/compcomm/compiz-configuration-system/bindings/ccs-python). Make sure it's installed into a prefix that your Python installation checks, like /usr.

It's a lot like the second-generation Beryl Settings Manager was, but I miss the ability to do global searches through every keyboard/mouse/corner shortcut in every plugin... It was so nice for figuring out what's happening when a shortcut doesn't quite work the way I expect.

Is there an openSuse repository that I can simple add to YAST and then install Compiz with all the bells and whistles. I really don't have the nerves for compiling :)
I have Compiz installed from the Beryl reprository but it seems like a lot is missing - no setting-manager there apart from BSM. I really want to test compiz but it seems like I lost the know how (I got too comfortable with Beryl, repro, install, start BSM and everything is fine) so if one of you guys would be kind enough to help me through the bits and pieces.
Thanks in advance.

Thanks Jupiter, I totally forgot CSM. Like I said, it's ages now since I haven't seriously used Compiz.
I have Compiz installed from the Beryl repository but no setting manager is available.
I went over to the Compiz forum in search of a repository for openSuse but I didn't find one that I can simple insert in YAST. Am I missing out on something?

Thanks once again Jupiter. After doing a little reading I found the cyberorg git repo for openSuse. I also started a thread in the German section.
One more question though Jupiter, how do I start the setting-manager? I accidentally started it once after installing Compiz-git but it didn't save the settings and now I can't start it again

Thanks. I installed the packages and Compiz seems to be working but I can't make any changes (settings) in the ccsm because I can't get it started. Looks like I am not using the right commands. I was hoping to find an icon in the Suse menu like BSM but nothing there.

Luxus Tuxus use this command to start CCSM.
ccsm &

There is a tray icon being developed. It is in git and seems to work pretty well.
Here is a thread with info.

It didn't work unfortunately Jupiter. Could it be that one of the packages is missing? Like I said, I used the CyberOrg repository for Suse and install all the git packages but maybe I missed something :? Should both Compiz and Compiz-git be installed or just the latter? I uninstalled the compiz package that was installed from the Beryl repository and install the one from the git repository. Could that be the problem?

I got it now. I used CyberOrg's YaST Meta Package:
http://dev.beryl-project.org/~cyberorg/suse/31/31/
For none-geeks like myself if you want to use this package then please open the link with Konqueror. That will make life much easier  Follow the instructions and it will work.
I only have one problem and that's with window deco. I used the --replace option but it's not working so fine with me. The setting manager is okay though.

I am happy to see the progress, yes it's really nice, especially this kind of shiver effect when you open a menu... I was missing it it Beryl, didn't quite find out how to set it. Yeah, it's still early days but it's cool.

Thanks, I used the YAST Meta Package to do the work for me because I almost went nuts with dependency problems.
On a side note: how do you get the KDE window-deco to work properly? I used the --replace command but the deco seems to come and then go :?
