I'm using compiz 0.3.4 from gandalfn on Ubuntu 6.10, and I'm having a problem with gnome-panel being on top all the time. Previously I was using compiz 2.x from gandalfn, and this wasn't so much a problem. It mainly exhibits itself when I play world of warcraft under wine. The window itself places correctly... but gnome-panel insists on staying on top. This only started after I upgraded to compiz 0.3.4.

I've dug through all the gconf settings for compiz. "On top" doesn't seem to be compiled into my version of compiz. Anyone have any ideas?

I have the same issue with compiz 0.3.4 leaving the KDE (RAOF is wrong) Kicker on top when I run mythtv.
I replace compiz with kwin when watching tele.

Maybe the state plugin can help?

You might want to try the 0.3.5 release to see if you have the same problems. I remember I had the kicker not on top bug a while ago but it was fixed fairly quickly, maybe the fix was after the 0.3.4 release.

You should be able to up and downgrade without a problem.

0.3.5 doesn't seem to be in the gandalfn "dev" repository yet.

I assumed you meant the future 0.3.5 release, so i got current with git (http://www.go-compiz.org/index.php?title=Download#Downloading_with_git) and recompiled (http://www.go-compiz.org/index.php?title=Compiling).
The panel still stays on top of fullsceen MythTV. To be fair it is configured to not allow other windows to cover it.
I've switched back to 0.3.4 with out any problem.

0.3.5 means the current git, next official release will be 0.3.6 gandalfn has a 0.3.5 prebuilt binary somewhere which you can use rather than having to compile yourself.

The panel still stays on top of fullsceen MythTV. To be fair it is configured to not allow other windows to cover it.

Download the compiz plugin Window Rules and in fullscreen put name=WoW.exe then in your warcraft/WTF/Config.wtf add SET gxWindow "1"

it works for me with Launcher.exe and WoW.exe

edit: Didn't see how old this thread was. Oh well hope this helps some one.

I'll try that later. I just gave up in the end an set the panels to autohide.

I don't know why but sometimes warcraft doesn't start fullscreen. A quick fix is to add an * [ name=WoW.exe* ] at the end and hit enter.

I tried this and it still loads up in a Window with the gnome-panel overlapping :(
