Hi :)

One feature I love in Beryl, is the ability to easy setup my mouse middle clic to rotate to viewports (with the mousewheel on the desktop or near the borders), or initialise rotation. In Compcom, this option is not avaivable, I think it's because it needs patches to the rotate plugin (that is upstream). But I wonder if it's possible to integrate it in the Desktop Wall plugin. Maybe it's easier because it's not upstream.
Is it possible or this feature need to patch the core itself ?

However thanks for all this work, it's work pretty well for a alpha software :)

Not the "middle clic" but the "middle button" also known as the 3rd button ^^

I want this feature in compcomm too :D pleaseeeeeeeeeeee \o/

Yes I miss it too, it was easier with one hand, try to press ctrl alt and move the mouse with one and!... it hurts  :$

Agreed, this and rotate near screen edges make the cube usable with just the mouse, one of the reasons I haven't yet switched from Beryl.

Middle Click on desktop shouldnt be too hard to impliment but you can bump the screen edge to make it rotate too :D Just check 'Edge flip cursor' in CCS :D

Please, don't be too strict with my poor english ;)

That's could be good :)
But for the Edge flip cursor, I don't like this way of rotate because :
- it's too sensible when approching borders :)
- difficile to switch quickly if you have to cross all the screen twice or more :)

I try switching to gconf backend, but compcomm crash, and did not restart :(

Good news, with the new plugin viewport mouse switch (fusion/plugins/vpswitch), we can rotate the cube with the mousewheal on the desktop ! Thanks :) I think the edge switch is coming soon :D

Yes! Now all we need is edge-switching and middle-click on the desktop initiating the cube rotation for this to be PERFECT!

I wanted this, too. But I made the idea more general. My thread is here: Key/mouse bindings: "Only on desktop" condition[/url:fd454] ;)

My post in the Near-edge mousewheel rotate[/url:96287] thread explains how to kind-of-sort-of rotate the cube by scrolling the mouse wheel when it's near an edge.

Kind of sort of because it only works with right-edge+down and left-edge+up, not both up and down on either edge. ^^;

I think that "rotate with mouse wheel near edges" it's the biggest lack of compiz regarding beryl...

Maybe this needs a different thread, but I'd also like to finally be able to rotate the cube by hovering over the workspace switcher and scrolling the wheel, like in Metacity.

Yes it's possible in compiz :)
I think it's the most usefull feature missing in compiz-fusion.

Just change the 'Number of Desktops to eg. 4 in CCSM->General Options, that'll fix it. (Won't rotate the cube though, only a quick fade..)
