Has this at all been discussed at length? I'm assuming that OpenCompositing isn't going to be the official name?

How about some suggestions from the users then? Some seem to be a little agitated with the lack of official information, so how about having a list and let registered users vote in these forums? Might be a good way to draw attention to the new forums too, especially for Old-Compiz users?

So, fwiw: My suggestion is to simply call it CC.

- Short for CompComm
- CC for newbies could be EasyCC
- Compassionately called CCEC: CC eye candy
- Imagine release 10: "10CC". Oh... I might be derailing now... :)

I prefer OC2 that is O C squared
"bbcode won't do the little 2 upper right "squared symbol"

It fits in the cube icon and well it plays on the word cube.
And it has a nice ring to it.
Linux OC2
Linux Open Composite squared
Linux O C sqaured

the name choosing period is over

compiz is the core
compiz fusion is everything else that extends compiz (currently containing plugins, a settings system, configurator, a window decorator and other random things like startup scripts...)

the the whole forums and sites issue is being sorted out currently and opencompositing is only temporary untill that is done

and once we get a gallery setup for all the subimissions in this thread viewtopic.php?f=46&t=835 (http://forums.opencompositing.org/viewtopic.php?f=46&t=835), we can start the voting stage for the icon

:D :D
