i believe this was the first post of about 1500 on the original compiz forums (on June 7 2006), (and i still want it to happen :D, though i know now even more so than i did then, this will take a long time to come to us :D)

i think this was either the first post i ever made on the old forums or one of the first, either way, i don't want the idea lost, so here i go :D

I have two ideas that would make more cubes useful......
1) First of all the ability to move the cubes around in 3d space, i have no idea how that could be helpful really, but it would be cool, and some people may find it useful....there are a lot of people out there...
2) Have some of the cubes a 3d metaphoric object, instead of a cube.
For example, a radio for playing your music, and have it set up to be your favourite music player with a folder of your music files (like in my poor ascii art here)

hmmm, the ascii art used to work on the Punbb forums, but i can't get it to look good on this because of the dodgy phpbb, screwing up the spaces.......o well, you get the point (i had to enclose it in the [code] brackets to make it look decent.....)
except 3d and actually looking like a radio (or maybe even an ipod, though a radio would be bigger, so more room to see music files)
or you could have a cinema for your movies, complete with curtain (i'm not gonna do ascii art for that, would take too much time and room!)
or an arcade for your games
(Of course this could only work for applications which don't require many windows) for that you could just have a normal cube
Well methinks that would be good....
thnx for any feedback and thoughts on my idea.....:D (XGL is so cool!)
