Hello,

In some full-screen windows, the gnome panels remain visible. This only happens with Beryl turned on.

In particular, the VMWare window, as shown in the screenshot below.

http://www.petpirates.com/_mainimages/ForumPostings/screenshot1.jpg

This is a WinXP virtual PC inside a full-screen VMWare Window.

The gnome panels are still visible on the top and bottom of the screen.

This means that the WinXP taskbar is inaccessible as it is behind the Gnome panel.

This is VMWare WorkStation Beta 6.
Ubuntu 7.04
Beryl from Ubuntu repos
GeForce 7600GT
latest nVidia binary drivers

How can I prevent this from happening?

Thanks in advance.

J

you should run vmware in full screen instead of maximized window
franzrogar had a nice tutorial on how to do this,,, it was lost during last
forum H.D. crash i believe
i have copied my saved instructions to Xeffects here

you can see in my video here that viewport 4 has winxp fullscreen with no borders

It is running full screen :-)

It's VMWare Workstation in full screen mode!!!

Except the gnome panels are visible on top of it!

With Beryl off, the panels behave as they should -- behind the full screen.

I'm sure there's a Beryl setting somewhere I can tweak to fix this to make the panels behave properly... any ideas?

try adjusting the FSP,,, in beryl-manager go to
General Options --> General Options --> Level of Focus Stealing Prevention

Any luck with this? I'm running into the same problem. Running Beryl, Ubuntu Feisty 64, NVidia card and the task bars stay on-top of a fullscreen VM.
