Hi there,
I was wondering how I make the cube smaller when you pan out and also how you make the skydome stay in place when you rotate.
Also, where do I put the plugins for the various effects?
Loving compiz btw, brilliant application.

I don't think you can make the cube smaller.
To make the skydome stay in place you must uncheck either "animate" option under "Workspaces" in gnome-compiz-manager or /apps/compiz/plugins/cube/screen0/options/skydome_animated in gconf-editor.
List if plugins that you want Compiz to load is under /apps/compiz/general/allscreens/options/active_plugins in gconf-editor.

Thanks Sorceror, I now have a fixed background. However, I still can't see where I place the plugins that I downloaded from the Plugins Development forum on this site.

Place them in /home/<your username here>/.compiz/plugins and then add to active_plugins.

If you are worried about that, you should install the compiz-extra package, this provides most of those plugins in a compiled form. The ones posted on the forum need to be compiled first.
Compiling and installing the plugins is just a case of unpacking them and then typing make install. You might not have the required libraries and utilities to compile so the procompiled might be easier.

Maybe you could increase the amount of zoom in rotate cube -> general

I had the zoom problem too, and I just figured it out. If you're using the compiz-manager on KDE, go to the 'rotate cube' plugin's settings and change the zoom value.
hope I helped you :)
