Hello,

I am running on a gentoo system. I was running Beryl for a couple months straight with no problem. Recently I had done an emerge -uavD to update
my system. After I rebooted my troubles began. When going into X beryl works fine (i.e. spinning cube, wobbly windows, window decorations) however none of the gnome stuff works (i.e. menu's, the applications/places/system menu, nautilus...). I can click on a application shortcut on my desktop and nothing will happen, but as soon as I kill Beryl the application shows up as if it was already there but didn't get drawn while Beryl was running. I have tried running X, gnome and Beryl from command line to see if there were any blatant errors that may cause this, and nothing shows up. As a matter of fact X with debug turned on shows me selecting stuff even when beryl doesn't let gnome draw anything. I am currently on 0.2.1, I have tried downgrading to 0.1.4 with no success. I have only come across 3 other people with this problem and none of them know the solution, but all of them did the same thing they updated their system by running emerge -uavD and then Beryl broke. I was thinking maybe there is some library involved that is causing this now. Please help.

My details:
OS: Linux/Gentoo
Video Card: Nvidia
Driver : Nvidia
Gnome/beryl

Please let me know if there is any more info I can provide.

are you using the xeffects overlay
and if so did you also install or update the gnome-python-desktop
if so make sure you used the right use flags

well, I faced this problem before and it is resolved now. But I don't know the exact solution... I did upgrade all x server components. Also, I removed all "0xXX" values in the gnome shortcut key, because it made lineak report the silly Xkeyboard error. Oh, btw, I am using debian.
