do you have the rotate and cube plugins installed :?:
also if you go to general options under general options :D , the horizontal virtual size is the number of side of the cube.

The problem is with "desktop-effects". This is the BUG:
Whenever you RUN desktop-effects it will change the horizontal size (faces of cube) to only ONE. So, once you have set-up desktop-effects do this:
1 - Execute gconf-editor.
2 - Look for this schema: apps -> compiz -> general -> screen0 -> options -> hsize
3 - Change it from "1" to "4" (4 faces of cube, as ex)
4 - NEVER open desktop-effects again. If you do, step back to #1 and repeat ;)

Schema will not allow me to change settings as it suggests it will be updated in later versions...
I have 4 screens when I use control, alt and tab but they fill the entire screen, no cube affect...

don't go to the schema :roll: , just go to apps -> compiz -> general -> screen0 -> options -> hsize in gconf-editor ;)

Oh, and my setting on the cubes (sides) don't change, they are staying at 4 or six once I set them. Is there another way to get the cube started? A series of keys? GP

first, are you sure Desktop -> Rotate Cube is enabled ?
if yes, did you tried to change its shortcuts ?

Hmm. Well, the default shortcut to free-rotate the cube with the mouse is Ctrl+Alt+LeftClick. When you say "see the cube," do you mean like in the screenshots where it's zoomed out significantly from the cube (so you can see the empty space around it)? That may require adjusting the Zoom value for the Rotate Cube plugin; I had a default installation of Compiz with Feisty, and the default value was 0.
Also, if you are using the Desktop Effects manager that came with Ubuntu Feisty, I think that controls Compiz, not Beryl. (Just pointing this out, since this is the Beryl forum...)

At a loss. I can get the desktop to do all kinds of neat things, but turn into a cube. I have tried mouse clicks, buttons, all kinds of things. I am not running a champion of a 3D card in my PC. Could that be effecting it? It's an Nvidia 3D card with 64 megs of RAM. I get the wobble, can change all kinds of settings for the cube. By the way, it's zoom size was set to zero. But nothing gets me the cube. I also checked my desktop effects. It only tells me this is an experinmental feature in Ubuntu. I clcik on woblle and cube, and then enable desktop effects. Nothing is mentioned bewtween Beryl and/or Compiz. Thinking it's a 3d card thing.... But, everything else seems to work decent.... My Windows Vista machine may be getting robbed of it's video card soon...... GP

If your video card is able to do wobbly and other effects then it absolutely can do cube.
That is not the problem. There must be a bad setting somewhere. If you rename your
~/.beryl folder and ~/.beryl-managerrc file you can get back to default settings.
Then after you restart beryl make sure to go and enable the cube and rotate plugin.
And don't forget to change the zoom on initiate rotate setting. Try this and let us know.

You have the wrong plugin enabled. Make sure the Desktop Wall and Desktop Plane, are disabled.
You can not have either of those enabled at the same time as Desktop Cube.
