For my part, I just added [code:a5d44]nvidia-settings -load-config-only[/code:a5d44] in gnome-session-properties.

Does your method (being not as much gnome-centric, I agree) have any advantage over mine ?

what about a small start-script? like this:

[code:09829]
nvidia-settings -load-config-only
bery-manager
[/code:09829]

What about it? I am sure that works too.
To me it seems easier to start nvidia-settings using
my method "before KDE starts". So my settings are
already in place when KDE then beryl start. I also
login using gnome sometimes when testing. So i have
my nvidia-settings set in one place to cover both DE.

Are there any guides on perfect nvidia settings when using compiz/fusion?

There is no such thing as perfect settings as all systems are different, ie "different cards & drivers".
You can check my Nvidia FAQ for some example settings and information.

And you can read my nvidia-settings FAQ for information on that.
