Thanks for noting this. I think you didn't delete the post (at least it looks as if it was still there), maybe you got a wrong error message. I also encountered several "unusual" things (rather small bugs?) and incorrect values (which corrected themeselves after a refresh).
You all may have noticed that we are facing some problems with the database since a couple of days. It is incredibly slow for some reason and we are still trying to find the bottleneck ...
Whenever the connection seems to have timed out, please check in a separate browser-window/tab if your post has already been entered (it is in 99% of the cases) - that way you can avoid duplicating (or more) your posts.
Thanks in advance and sorry for the inconvenience ...

Is it? Still seems very slow here. It appears as if the answer from the server takes ages to be sent ...

Editing a first post just took an age for me.
Posting this was quick though. <-wrong
edit:
It took over a minute and ended up asking me to download posting.php which was an empty file.

I hit submit then
wait around a minute and then I notice it wants to download posting.php
I download the empty file and nothing else happens.
When I refresh this thread my new post is here.

time for the compiz fusion site which will finally see the end to having multiple forums for this compositing goodness.....
(and the finally the end of the typing disaster known as opencompositing.org) :D :D :P
(no offense intended to any person, thing, animal or website)

I think phpBB3 would be a very nice solution and I'd immediately upgrade, but not while it is still a release candidate. Even though rc4 may sound stable, the fact that there already were 4 (!!) release candidates should show everyone that even the authors don't fully trust their software yet ... :)

Well...maybe a tricky situation but to choose between to reinstall with phpBB2 or 3, I would choose phpBB3.
The first step is probably to take a database backup and setup an test site.
I have also noticed SQL errors so maybe the database must be repaired ???

A small update on this - the database seems to have several problems. We are working on it to get things back to normal!

It turns out there is a bug in the forum software that is causing one of the databases to become huge and lag the posting process. We're discussing solutions now. Hopefully we can resolve this quickly.
